Recently, China’s marine‑equipment industry has entered a wave of technological advancement, with the full‑range, turnkey supply model for marine lighting rapidly gaining traction. This approach now encompasses a comprehensive product portfolio, including navigation signal lights, explosion‑proof cabin ceiling lights, remote searchlights, emergency lighting, and more.

As global shipping policies on green and low‑carbon operations tighten, the IMO’s new energy‑efficiency regulations for ships have officially taken effect. Traditional halogen and fluorescent vessel lights are gradually being phased out of new‑build specifications, with high‑efficiency LED luminaires now becoming an essential standard. According to estimates by the Water Transport Industry Research Institute, once a 100,000‑ton class ocean‑going cargo ship fully transitions to next‑generation marine LED lighting systems, its annual lighting energy consumption will drop by more than 60%, while the effective service life of the luminaires will extend to over seven years, significantly reducing vessel downtime and maintenance costs.

Industry insiders note that shipowners and shipyards no longer procure lighting fixtures on a piecemeal, standalone basis; instead, they increasingly favor one-stop, integrated solutions. Manufacturers can tailor corrosion‑resistant, explosion‑proof, and high‑ and low‑temperature‑tolerant lighting systems to meet the distinct operating conditions of tankers, container ships, engineering vessels, and LNG‑specific vessels, while simultaneously integrating smart dimming and remote fault‑monitoring modules to ensure both navigational safety and energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, China’s domestic standards system for marine lighting continues to improve. The new edition of the “Technical Specifications for Marine LED Lighting Fixtures” has added mandatory tests for 1,000-hour salt-spray exposure and high-frequency vibration resistance. As a result, complete lighting systems certified by multiple classification societies, including CCS, DNV, and ABS, now face significantly lower regulatory barriers in overseas markets, driving sustained growth in international orders for domestically produced maritime lighting equipment.
